The Solid Edge Fundamentals course will focus on making the novice user aware of the potential uses of production level solid modeling. The focus of this course is on the fundamental skills and concepts central to the use of Solid Edge.

Students will have learned how to utilize Solid Edge to design production level parametric models of parts, sheet metal design, assemblies, detail drawings and document management. They will also be familiar with the Solid Edge user interface, adding features, sketching tools and various modeling techniques.

  • This course is intended for: Users who want to get a jumpstart on becoming proficient with the Solid Edge product.

PREREQUISTIES

  • The standard prerequisites for the training course: potential students should have, or have completed the following prior to the class:

The Solid Edge Sheet Metal Design class will focus on making the novice user aware of the potential uses of production level sheet metal design. The focus of this course is on the skills and concepts central to the use of Solid Edge Sheet Metal.

Students will have learned how to utilize Solid Edge to design production level parametric sheet metal parts. They will also be familiar with the Solid Edge user interface, reference planes, profile/sketching tools and flat pattern drawing creation.

PREREQUISTIES

Sheet metal design experience

  • Windows experience
  • Completion of the Solid Edge tutorials delivered with the product
  • Lack of mechanical design and Windows experience is very difficult to overcome in the classroom.
  • Students who lack one or both should realize the impact it will have on their learning experience. Just a little exposure to Solid Edge prior to the class can make all the difference.

Solid Edge Assembly

The Solid Edge Assembly class is designed to teach the novice- to intermediate-user how to create assemblies from Solid Models. The class covers all of the commands available in the Assembly environment, and it teaches both top-down and bottom-up assembly design.

Students will have learned how to apply all of the relationships used to construct assembly models. They will have learned how to assemble and edit parts that already exist, and how to create new parts within an assembly; how to create exploded views, cutaway views, simplified views, and custom views; how to manage very large assemblies; how to verify assembly integrity; how to model motion with Simply Motion; how to create families of assemblies; how to model tubing with XpressRoute; and how to work with weldments.

  • This course is intended for: Users who design assemblies or have the need to work with assemblies in product design workflows.

  • Or, completed the solid modeling tutorials that are delivered with the product

Mold Tooling Design:

Solid Edge Mold Tooling Design

The Solid Edge Mold Tooling Design class will focus on making the novice user aware of the potential uses of the Solid Edge Mold Tooling product to incorporate a designed part into an industry standard mold base. The focus of this course is on the skills and concepts central to the use of Solid Edge Mold Tooling Product.

Students will have learned how to utilize Solid Edge Mold Tooling to orient a part in a mold base, define the parting line for the mold, place runners, cooling circuits, injectors, ejectors, and slides. Mold plate selection can be custom or come from industry standard catalogs.

Solid Edge Surfacing

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Solid Edge Surfacing class covers using Solid Edge modeling functions to build free form surfaces. Free form surfaces are those that cannot be constructed using standard solid modeling features. This includes creating bspline curves and other developed curves, building surfaces through one or more sets of curves, sweeping profiles along guides, and applying surface transition between faces. Learn the workflows and modeling tools that make you more productive in creating surface models. The instructor will introduce areas of focus for each modeling workflow and then reinforce this topic with well-designed lab exercises.

Students will have improved their overall Solid Edge surface modeling skills. They will have learned the finer points of curve creation, learned to create simple and complex surfaces, learned to edit curves to produce a desired surface and learned to combine and manipulate surfaces to build a surface model. Overall, the student will be able show an increase in productivity by more efficient use of Solid Edge thus reducing the design cycle time.

Solid Edge Frame Design:

Solid Edge Frame Design

This course is designed for users of the Solid Edge Frame modelling toolset.

The course will start with sketch creation, using 2d and 3d sketch tools, as well as solid models, before progressing through the various frame creation options, culminating with a tutorial on creating and managing your own custom frame profiles. On completion of this course, the trainee will have a sound knowledge of frame creation, editing and management.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND PREREQUISITES

  • Solid Edge Frame training course is aimed at new or occasional users of Solid Edge Frame who are looking to expand their knowledge. Some experience of 3D CAD is essential, preferably with Solid Edge. This course is not suited to experienced user of Solid Edge Frame Design.

Solid Edge XpresRoute is an add-on module for automating the creation of tube, hose and pipe runs within Solid Edge. Full process-specific workflows are taught, from simple path creation, through to final 2D detailing and reporting. The student, upon completion of this course, will have a sound understanding of the various aspects of tube and pipe creation, how to create the necessary routing paths and how to extract information to reporting and BOM’s.


The Solid Edge Tubing and Piping course is aimed at those who use or wish to use Solid Edge Xpress Route to create and manage their pipe routing requirements.

PREREQUISITES

  • This course assumes a certain level of competence with Solid Edge or similar CAD system and a basic knowledge of the fundamentals of tubing and piping and moves at a fairly fast pace in order to cover all the required topics within a day. This course is not suitable for experienced users of Solid Edge Xpress Route.
Solid Edge Wire Harness Design:

Solid Edge Wire Harness is an add-on module for automating the creation of electrical assemblies. This course takes the user through the basics of path or route creation, the placement and assignment of terminals or connectors and the placement and management of conductors within the harness design. The course will also cover the use of ECAD output files to automate the creation of the harness. The final part of the course deals with the publication or reports, BOM and harness drawings.

PREREQUISITES

The Solid Edge Wire Harness course is aimed at beginners to Wire Harness and aims to take them from novice to competent user. This course is not suitable for experienced users of Wire Harness.
